Grace UMC actively supports the Sullivan community and local area with multiple service projects throughout the year. Contact us to learn more about participating in these opportunities to be of service.

Service Projects
Back pack snacks: Be part of a group that packs bags which are taken to local schools to provide food for the weekend to food insecure families.
Community Dinner: Free dinner each month, cooked at the church and either picked up or delivered for those who request the meal. In addition, we’ve added at least 50 meals that are taken to sites where unhoused persons can pick up meals.
Mobile Market: The Mobile Market is no longer making distributions at Grace UMC. New sites in St. Clair and Cuba have been created by the St. Louis Food Bank. FARM Distributions will be held monthly in Cuba and Union. Check here for details.
SHARE meals: Hot lunches made and delivered twice a week during the summer to families with children who are food insecure.
Step Forward is Grace’s ministry to those unhoused or underemployed: This newest ministry seeks to meet the three needs unhoused people relate to us regularly: Hunger, Hygiene and Housing. This ministry is launching and it would be a great place for you to serve and grow with the rest of us trying to meet the needs of those struggling in Sullivan. Currently includes a pantry ministry (see below), an urgent need ministry, and a new laundry ministry called Loads of Love.
GUMC Little Pantry: The Little Pantry is staffed on Mondays and Fridays from 10am to noon for walk-in clients. The funds for this ministry come from regular donations of local congregations and individuals. You’re invited to keep the pantry filled with non-perishable food for those who need a little help with meals. If you need food, please take it. Take what you need, Give what you can. Neighbors also keep the Little Pantry filled for others.
Loads of Love is a ministry created to help “lighten the load” of those doing laundry at one of two sites in Sullivan each month. A collaborative ministry between St. John & St. James Episcopal Church, Anchor Presbyterian Church and Grace UMC pays for washing and drying for those present during the hours of this pop-up event. Each congregation provides for the funds, volunteers and laundry detergent, softener and more. 2nd Sundays are designated for Noisy Offerings (coins!).
